FOLLOWING the ruling of the United
State’s Supreme Court legalising same-sex marriage, the discourse about
its legality or otherwise has been on. However, Nigerian songstress, Ure
Okezie, aka Queen Ure, has a different train of thought on the issue.
Taking to her Facebook page, the artiste
argued that one way or the other, we have all contributed to making the
world what it is today. In her words, parents are the architects of the
society as their kids want to emulate their actions.
In that light, the rising incidences of
divorce, broken relationships and unhappy marriages have led to the
collapse of marriages.
“There can never be a vacuum in nature.
When the real deal fails, something must replace it. Slowly and
gradually, for decades, people were choosing differently from what God
designed but with this complete devaluing of the proper marriage, gayism
came to the fore,” she wrote.
However, she said, “it will still fail
because it is unnatural. Life must have the ying and the yang, the
masculinity and the ‘feminity’ so it is a failure already but if we must
change the fast growing perversion, we must endeavour to honour the
marriage institution.”
The divorced singer rounds off her post by calling on married men to love their wives and treat them right.
“Your kids are watching, your nieces and
nephews are watching. If the divorce rate continues the way it’s going,
the next generation will do abominable things. In your own little
corner, be the light, show the way, let those around you appreciate
marriage because of you. A fulfilled wife speaks volumes, a truly
happily married man speaks volumes,” she concludes
