Millionaire Zac Goldsmith to be Tory candidate for London Mayor

 
Zac Goldsmith will be Tory candidate for London mayor
The Tories have selected Zac Goldsmith to be their candidate in next year's London Mayoral election.
He'll be up againstin the race to succeed Boris Johnson in the capital's top job.
Goldsmith secured 71 per cent of the vote in the Conservative contest
.
He fought off competition from rivals including entrepreneur Ivan Massow, current deputy mayor Stephen Greenhalgh and London Assembly member Andrew Boff.



The 40-year-old Richmond Park MP is the son of billionaire tycoon Sir James Goldsmith.
He was educated at Oxford and at Eton - but was expelled from the posh public school for possession of cannabis.

Incumbent mayor Boris Johnson said: "I'm delighted for Zac - he's principled, hard-working and dedicated. He's fizzing with ideas and he's passionate about London and its people.
